Harder than I thought.

:(

I want to buy something. The Maybelline Studio Eye Shadow looks amazing. I want ten pan to be over. So far I have chosen my nude lipstick from Revlon, my blue eyeliner from Avon, one of my many clear shiny lip glosses, the Buzz one, and two half tubes of Maybelline mascara to use up. I have had difficulty being excited about makeup for the past week because I have had to wear my glasses due to being out of contact lenses. I know that makeup is just as pretty, but for me it doesn't feel like it. I will be experimenting with looks to help me get over my glasses funk. Today I have white shadow and bright pink liner on. Statement. More later.

still deciding

So I still haven't picked my products for 10 pan yet. I counted the number of products I have used in the past three days alone, and it was 32. I am having a hard time determining what I will use repeatedly until it is gone. I have to make a decision though, so I will probably narrow it down tonight when I prepare for my sleep study at the hospital. I will have a lot of time by myself to think.

Ten Pan

 10 - pan

So it was inevitable, eventually I was going to have to face the music. I am a makeup addict, I am destined to live my life as a cosmetics junkie. This being said I have decided to try Project 10 pan like many of the girls on You Tube. Over the next couple days I will be selecting 10 items that I will use everyday until they are gone. With us trying to get into our house and buy furniture it is a good time for me. So I will choose the lucky 10 and then I will post pictures of them and keep you updated on my progress. I will also continue to post about other items but they will strictly be from shopping my own collection. Hello my name is M and I am a makeaholic. Wish me luck!!

Peach Sunset

 Top three needed items!

I have been a slacker on posting, but I had a lot going on with both my jobs. I took a trip to Walmart the other day because I had to kill an hour waiting for my boyfriend to get off work so we could go house hunting. I work I had made a list of the top three things I would get if I was going to buy makeup. I came up with the top three being a blue eyeliner, a good under eye concealer, and an lipstick that leaned a little bit towards the orange side. This is what I purchased;

Hard Candy Take Me Out Eyeliner in Sake' ~ I love the fun chopstick like packaging of this eyeliner, and the color is nice and bright, I want to try out the other colors because I really like this one. The only thing I do not like is if you use it on the lower lash line it does have a bit of fallout, so you have to pay attention to it. On top it stays put well, I used a powder over it to make it stay put.

Rimmel London Recover Anti Fatigue Concealer in Ivory ~ I like this because it instantly brightens up my eye area. It isn't ideal for full coverage, but it does keep you from looking overly tired.

Wet and Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in Peach Sunset ~ I like the finish of this lipstick, it is smooth and the color is really pretty. It does not stay on for a long time, but as long as you do not mind reapplying then it is great. I reapply all day out of habit even if the lipstick stays on great!

Also I was shopping my collection for blue eyeliners before I went to buy this one, and found my Avon Ultra Luxury Eyeliner in Midnight Blue. It is a lot darker then Sake' so it works for a completely different look.

Here is the Sake' and Concealer

The top line is Sake' and the bottom is Midnight Blue

AVA!!!

Ava Gardner was gorgeous. There is no denying that. She was very comfortable in her sexuality too, she was not afraid who knew it. The picture to the left (courtesy of google images) is one of the best pictures of her. The part that I focus on are those lashes. Granted they might be fake lashes. The movie production companies she worked for loved to slather as much makeup as possible on their actresses, and I would not put it past them to use fakes. I love old Hollywood Glamour. I have read two books about the life of Ava Gardner, and I think she was just a natural beauty. She lived in a time before plastic surgery was the norm, and before airbrushing was really possible. Her overall look is fantastic, but since I was focused on her lashes, I will get to my point.
Lashes can complete a whole look. The right mascara can tie everything together just perfectly. That is why I am loving the mascara of my life right now Mary Kay's Signature Ultimate Mascara! It makes my lashes long and so pretty. It separates well, and you do not need to use a lot of coats to achieve your desired look. I took a picture of mine because I had never opened it, and I am not sure when I got it. I also put a stock picture from Mary Kay's website, because the packaging has changed. The mascara comes in black and black/brown. It is $15.00 on their website and on Amazon I found it for $13.00 in the silver packaging like I have. It is well worth it, it may be the only one I use for a while.

Stock photo from Mary Kay's website                                          Mine!!!

Just for fun here are some more gorgeous pictures of Ava!! All from Google image search.

Above is my favorite. It is from the movie the killers where she drives two men to their destruction with her beauty. She looks fantastic even in black and white!

OMG!!!

What was I thinking?????

I completely left the house today without any lipstick on, or any in my purse. This is a HUGE deal to me because I do not usually go anywhere without lipstick on me. Enter my savior, the lip gloss duo you see to the right. It is the Femme Couture Ultra Shine Lip Duo in Pink Tulip. I got this a while back from Sally's because you got it for free when you purchased one or more of the Femme Couture eye shadows. It is so shiny I only used the one side, and even I can stand not having lipstick on!!

Here is what Sally's says about it;
  • Gives lips a shiny, pouty look
  • Two semi-sheer shades
  • Can be worn together or separately
I really like the shine. I am glad I rediscovered it in my makeup bag, because now, of course, I am going to try it over my precious gaga!!!!

Gingham Nails!!

Fun with Gingham,

Playing around with my nails this morning I was trying to do a design I saw on you tube. I can not find it again. It is a very nice video of a girl doing this checkered pattern in the pic. I love it! I used a pearl colored base, a white nail art polish, a pink nail art polish, and a toothpick! If anyone finds this video on you tube, let me know so I can give her the credit. I can not wait to try blue and green, and other fun colors!!

Fun With COlor!!

This look was fun to do this morning as I looked at my plain Jane outfit and thought, my eyes can use some color! I used everything pictured on my eyes, with the exception of the blues in the Loreal quad. I wanted something colorful and pretty. I know the floating eyes pic is strange, but that is how it posted so I am rolling with it. Here is what I did;

I first primed my eyes with Hard Candy Eye Shadow Primer (not pictured) and then I covered from my lid up to my brow in the third color down in the Revlon Illuminating Creme Shadow pallet in Seashell.
I followed that up with the top highlight color of the Loreal Wear Infinite Quad in the Out of the Blue Palette on the center of my eyelid and above my crease.
I then put the Cover Girl Eye Enhancers Purple Shadow number 455 on the outer third of my lid.
To just the outside of my crease I applied the Revlon Blusher I talked about in my last post, Merlot at Midnight. It added intensity to the look.
On the top eyelid right up against my lashes and on my bottom water line I used NYC Liner in Bold Brown. I followed that with Hard Candy's Walk the Line liner in Gold Glitter on the outer part of my bottom lash line, and right above the Bold Brown liner all the way across my top lash line. I finished the look with Great Lash mascara (not pictured).
It probably seems like a lot of steps. I used just two brushes and my fingers for all the shadows. A Revlon shadow brush for all the eyeshadow colors except the Merlot at Midnight on the outside of my crease.
I like to create looks that have lots of dimension when I have time to play around with color!

In the Bag!

I wanted to share my new makeup bag with you. I love it! It was handmade in Japan. I got it from a goodwill store. I had a very stressed purple cheetah bag that was struggling to hold all my precious cargo. I have since gotten rid of it to make room for my new one. I can fit all my everyday essentials in it. It matches all my purses. There are no bad things to say about it. Plus, it is super cute!!!

Random Makeup Loves and Foundation!!

These pictures were taken on my very spring time dress that I have on today!!

Okay so I recently purchased Revlon Photo Ready Foundation. I really like it! It isn't too thick like a lot of full coverage foundations and it blends really well. I have it in ivory which may be a little too light for spring/summer, but I make up for it with my bronzer. The bottle says, "a completely airbrushed look in any light," I do not know if I agree with that exactly, but it does do a good job. The concealer in the picture is by Hard Candy the Nobody's Perfect Concealer Palette in fair. They also have medium. You can tell in the picture I have hit pan in a couple of them, I use it everyday. The green is for red areas, the yellow I use on my lids to prime and cover red lines, and the two nude colors I use under my eyes to cover up dark circles. I don't really use the lilac color. I have read that it is a kind of primer, so you might put it over dark spots on your face before your foundation.  It is a good deal and I think it is as good as some high end concealer palettes.  The last thing in the picture, which you can not see how pretty it is because of the poor quality of my phone camera while my digital is charging, is Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Correcting Powder in Translucent by Physicians Formula. I like to use this as a setting powder, it completes the look, and gives my foundation staying power. I use a large kabuki brush rather then the one that it came with, because it applies it better to my face. The powder does not look caked on and gives my skin an even more flawless finish. As far as the rest of my face goes for today, I took a picture of everything I used to go with my Springy Looking Dress!!
The Physicians Formula Shimmer Strip in Vegas Strip/ Light Bronzer  I used for my eyes and my cheeks. I used the top color for highlighting my cheekbones and the inner third of my eyelid. One thing I forgot to put in the picture is my Hard Candy Eyeshadow Primer, I love it! I used the third color down for the outer third of my eyelid, and I used the three bottom colors for bronzing in an E shape on my face and contouring the hollows of my cheeks! For the outer v I used Beauty Rush Luminous Shadow in Brown to Earth by Victoria's Secret. I lined my eyes with Sally Girl Liquid Liner in Deep Brown (.99 at Sally's Beauty Supply). For blush I used a Revlon Sculpting Blush Golden Affair in Merlot at Midnight. I got this on sale at Big Lots. I think that it was limited edition. I know that they have it on Amazon though!! You need the tiniest amount on your cheekbones, so you barely touch the brush to it. It looks like it is going to be scary, but it is actually really pretty. For my lips I used Avon Glimmersticks Lip Liner in Pink Bouquet, NYC lipstick in Violet Shine, and Milani Buzz Worthy Lip Gloss in BEE HAVE. It is just clear, but very shiny! The lips complement the blush perfectly, and the liner and lipstick are very close in color!! Hope you enjoyed reading this really long blog!

Sweet Cheeks!

Sweet CHEEKS!!

This is the cheek combo I have been using almost everyday.

1) Bronzer - NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder
2) Blush -NARS Orgasm!!!
3) Highlight - Physicians Formula Custom Blush & Highlighter in Healthy Glow

I love my Nars Blush. This is the most money I ever spent on a blush. The first time I bought it and used it, I knew it was worth it. The color is peach with some gold specks and it really looks fantastic on apples or used as a contour. It has lasted me a really long time!!
The NYC Bronzer is good if you have really fair skin like I do, it just gives you a little bit of a healthy summer time glow. It is not expensive, so that is an added perk. I love that the pictures are upside down. The brush I use for all three is just a generic Kabuki brush that works! Have fun playing up your cheekbones!!

Gems in the Dollar Store

BLUE GEMS!

So I popped into the Dollar General yesterday to pick up some random essentials. Of course I found myself in the makeup section. Who wouldn't!! I found this little gem for 2 dollars!! It is LA Colors, and it looks like they are trying to step up their game!! This is the mineral eyeshadow in Heaven. As you can see from the picture of my eyes, it is really pigmented. The brightness of this color has lasted all day. I put on a little Hard Candy Eye Primer (which works really well for mineral colors) and this combo this morning at 6:30 and it is now 3:30 and it looks like I just put it on. I love this eyeshadow. I love the way it looks, and I love the way it applies. I will probably go back and get some different colors, because I think it is well worth it. Check out your dollar stores, see what gems you can find, and let me know. I am a firm believer in giving all brands of makeup a chance, no matter what the price!

Elf Primer and Liner Sealer!!

I know you probably can not see the writing on the tube unless you zoom in on it. To the right is one of my favorite ELF products! It is the Eye Shadow Primer and Liner Sealer Duo. I like the primer I use it a lot, and it usually works to keep my look fresh all day. What I am mad about is the liner sealer! I love to use it to turn my bright or sparkling eye shadows into liner. It turns your favorite shadow into a waterproof liquid liner! I have been into using pinks and purples to do a brown shadow eye look with a pop!

Today's LIp Combo

Today's lip combo is Maybelline Extreme Lip Color in Chestnut, Sealed With A Kiss Lipstick Fixative, and Slick Tint in Opal by Avon.

Maybelline Extreme Lip Color in Chestnut is a good dark color. My dress today is burgundy so I thought Chestnut would go nicely with a very muted eye look. I got this lipstick at Big Lots for $1.50!! Big Lots has the best deals on lipstick sometimes. I suggest you check out the makeup section at Big Lots and look for Clearance bins if you haven't already. They have lots of good Rimmel and Maybelline products.

I purchase Sealed With A Kiss Lip fixative from Sally's Beauty Supply. It only works with certain lipsticks this moisturizing lipstick works well with it, but a lot of lighter colors look flaky with it on. I like it for dark looks, although I have not tested it enough to love it, I believe it holds up its side of the deal, you just have to know which lipsticks you can not wear with it.

I really like Slick Tint in Opal by Avon all by itself. A lot of times I put it in my apron when I am waiting tables so I can just slick it on and not have to worry about it. The color looks good  over dark colors and light colors. It just adds a bit of sheen and extra moisture. It was only $1.99 and I bought it from my sister!

The top is the Chestnut and the bottom is the Slick Tint.

2 things I am lovin right now!

The first is this eyeshadow trio in sunset from Avon. They are cream colors that are perfect to use for bases, or for highlight. I really like the bronze color for the inner corner and under my eyes. I do the green if I am going for a smoky eye with color! The peach color is great for highlight under the brow bone. These cream colors stay all day and do not crease which is not typical for creme shadows. I tend to stay away from them, but I love these!

Another thing that I am loving are these cute little baked eye shadows from Sally's Beauty Supply. These little darlings are only 99 cents each. A lot of times they have the Sally Girl brand items like these buy 5 and get one free.

These are actually really pigmented, and with a primer they stay on all day. The blue one on the top is really, really pretty on. This product is really a bang for your buck kind of deal!

2nd time bad news and a Rite Aid Haul

WTH!!

I wanted to try the Fing'rs nails again, and I did. I was disappointed yet again. The glue in the kit was dried out. It would not come out of the tube. No worries, I had the kit from before. It was also dried out. I have been so upset with the quality of these nails, I will not be buying them again. Maybe when I get over my disappointment, I will try another brand.

Now on to a tiny Rite Aid Haul, because I did go to Rite Aid to purchase the nails, and I got some goodies. I want to say that I didn't think the Prestige line of eyeshadow would be very good because it is so inexpensive. I was surprised at how pigmented it was.

Glisten, Ballet, and Verdigris

I wore the Ballet with some Carbon in the crease and waterproof eyeliner. It stayed on all day, and I got so many compliments on the look. I like that you get a good amount of product for a little money.

Another thing I picked up was this NYC Blushable Creme Stick in Pink Flash. It says that it is limited addition, so of course I had to have it.  It looks so scary when you first put it on.

After you rub it in, it gives the prettiest glow to your cheeks, topped with some highlighter it makes the perfect rosy cheek.

The last thing I got, I have used before. I have the Wet and Wild Gel Liner in Purple, but I had meant to get it in black. I picked up the black one, and I really like it. The picture shows me using it with two different brushes. The first I got from Sally's Beauty Supply and it is the top line on my wrist. It is really good for lining the water line, because you just touch it to it. The second, is actually the brush it comes with. If you look at the lines I drew in the picture, the brush it came with is really good for precise lines. The other brush is for a thicker line. Of course, it looks way more dramatic on my wrist then your eye. The picture of the actual eye was done with the brush it came with.

Rebel thought he would check it out, and when he smelled it he knocked it out of focus!

California Girls!

So I do not know what possessed me, but I stopped into Kerr Drug to check out their press on nails. I have saw them on  some of the girls at work, and I think they look really cute. I guess I was not paying close enough attention because the ones I got were hella long.  I put one on my thumb just to see if I liked it or not, and it was scary. I should have gotten the shorties, because I hated the way the long ones looked. I tried to file them down, but even filed down to the design they were still way too long; I am going to get some different ones and try them out, I think shorter will look way better. I was watching Eleventh Gorgeous on youtube earlier, because I love them, and they were showing the Fing'rs Nails and the ones they had looked good. They were the same design I had, but way shorter. I want to get some more, and I kind of want to get the ones with the black tips. I will let you know!

Just For Fun

What does your lipstick shape say about you? This website
http://www.martinarmand.com/Lipstick_Shapes.html
reveals just that.

My lipstick has a rounded smooth tip, and the website says that means I am.

Easy-going
Peacemaker
Even tempered
Steady
Likable
                  Generous

Try it out and see what your lipstick shape says about you!!

More Lippies??

I realize I am doing a lot of  lipstick posts here lately, but I really do have a love affair with lipstick. Enter, Rimmel Lasting Finish Intense Wear Lipstick in Airy Fairy! I have gone through three tubes of it. . It is kind of a nude, but it leans more towards pink. It is a really good put on and go color. For instance today it is jeans day at work, so I have on my Airy, a little foundation, blush, eyeliner, and mascara. That sounds like a lot, but it is minimal to what I wear on a daily basis. I highly recommend this color. I think that it will look good on all skin types.

To Line or Not to Line

Here is my lip combination for today. It consisted of a nude mouth made up of, Sephora Very Pink lip pencil, Revlon Nude Attitude Lipstick, and LO'real Lip Gloss in Sunset. The pink lip pencil is almost gone I have used it so much.

This got me thinking today, is this a necessity? Do I put on liner because I really need it, or out of habit? One advantages of a lip liner is that it helps lipstick stay on your lips longer, because it gives the lipstick something to hold onto. Another advantage of lip liner is that it keeps the lipstick from bleeding outside the lines of your lips. Is it something that is completely necessary to achieve the perfect looking pout? I like it a lot. i have been known to turn around and go back home if I have forgotten my lip liner, and have not done my lips yet. So I am going to say for me it is a necessity. I can not speak for everyone else, but I just feel like my look is signed, sealed and delivered when there is liner involved. Thoughts??

Liner

L'Oreal Linuer Intense

I love it. Like other liquid liners you really have to be careful applying it. Once you get the hang of it, it is super simple to use. Really, you can just lay it against your lash line and pull. If you want a thicker line it is easy to build up on without looking crazy.  The brush is a lot pointier then it looks in the picture. Wings are simple to do with this liner as well.

My favorite tip for winged eyeliner is to start with the bottom lash line at the outer corner and draw up...Then you can take the upper line and connect the two to make a wing that is guaranteed to look the same on both sides.

If you can tell in the picture, the dotted line goes up, and the heavier top line connects to it.

With the linuer intense I don't put a shadow over it to set it, but if I was going to use a different one, I would press some black eye shadow over the liner. It will stay all day, and gives it a more finished look.

Silver Mercedes

I was skeptical about the Pure Ice polish I bought at Walmart, but I really wanted a silver polish. I picked this up for less than two dollars. It is called Silver Mercedes, and it is super shiny. I like the shimmery finish, and it only takes two coats. If you see this in the store you will notice they have a billion colors. I will defiently be trying different colors to see if I like them just as much.

Another thing I wanted to talk about is the Nail Life Aromatheraphy Drop On Speed Dry. It is fantastic. You put it on and your nails dry so quickly, then you massage it into your cuticles, and it smells great!! Worth it I use it all the time, because I am too impatient to wait for my nails to dry.

The Creme De La Creme!!

Today I made paper flowers and butterflies for my bullentin board at work!!

I know it isn't relevant to makeup, but they are just so pretty I wanted to share them. Today I want to talk about the creme de la creme of nudes. It is another Mac lipstick that I love, Creme D' Nude. It is the perfect nude, and I think it goes well with a dark eye, or light spring colors. Right now the gloss I am using over it is Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss in Pink Afterglow. I am literally digging in the tube to get it out, I have used it so much. If you are like me then you are a weirdo and keep your Mac lipstick in the box. That is why in the picture my little pretty is sitting beside the box. I have actually used it a lot, I just keep it in my purse that way.

Comment if you are like me and keep you MAC in it's box, I may be on my own here
