Gems in the Dollar Store

BLUE GEMS!

So I popped into the Dollar General yesterday to pick up some random essentials. Of course I found myself in the makeup section. Who wouldn't!! I found this little gem for 2 dollars!! It is LA Colors, and it looks like they are trying to step up their game!! This is the mineral eyeshadow in Heaven. As you can see from the picture of my eyes, it is really pigmented. The brightness of this color has lasted all day. I put on a little Hard Candy Eye Primer (which works really well for mineral colors) and this combo this morning at 6:30 and it is now 3:30 and it looks like I just put it on. I love this eyeshadow. I love the way it looks, and I love the way it applies. I will probably go back and get some different colors, because I think it is well worth it. Check out your dollar stores, see what gems you can find, and let me know. I am a firm believer in giving all brands of makeup a chance, no matter what the price!

Elf Primer and Liner Sealer!!

I know you probably can not see the writing on the tube unless you zoom in on it. To the right is one of my favorite ELF products! It is the Eye Shadow Primer and Liner Sealer Duo. I like the primer I use it a lot, and it usually works to keep my look fresh all day. What I am mad about is the liner sealer! I love to use it to turn my bright or sparkling eye shadows into liner. It turns your favorite shadow into a waterproof liquid liner! I have been into using pinks and purples to do a brown shadow eye look with a pop!

Today's LIp Combo

Today's lip combo is Maybelline Extreme Lip Color in Chestnut, Sealed With A Kiss Lipstick Fixative, and Slick Tint in Opal by Avon.

Maybelline Extreme Lip Color in Chestnut is a good dark color. My dress today is burgundy so I thought Chestnut would go nicely with a very muted eye look. I got this lipstick at Big Lots for $1.50!! Big Lots has the best deals on lipstick sometimes. I suggest you check out the makeup section at Big Lots and look for Clearance bins if you haven't already. They have lots of good Rimmel and Maybelline products.

I purchase Sealed With A Kiss Lip fixative from Sally's Beauty Supply. It only works with certain lipsticks this moisturizing lipstick works well with it, but a lot of lighter colors look flaky with it on. I like it for dark looks, although I have not tested it enough to love it, I believe it holds up its side of the deal, you just have to know which lipsticks you can not wear with it.

I really like Slick Tint in Opal by Avon all by itself. A lot of times I put it in my apron when I am waiting tables so I can just slick it on and not have to worry about it. The color looks good  over dark colors and light colors. It just adds a bit of sheen and extra moisture. It was only $1.99 and I bought it from my sister!

The top is the Chestnut and the bottom is the Slick Tint.

2 things I am lovin right now!

The first is this eyeshadow trio in sunset from Avon. They are cream colors that are perfect to use for bases, or for highlight. I really like the bronze color for the inner corner and under my eyes. I do the green if I am going for a smoky eye with color! The peach color is great for highlight under the brow bone. These cream colors stay all day and do not crease which is not typical for creme shadows. I tend to stay away from them, but I love these!

Another thing that I am loving are these cute little baked eye shadows from Sally's Beauty Supply. These little darlings are only 99 cents each. A lot of times they have the Sally Girl brand items like these buy 5 and get one free.

These are actually really pigmented, and with a primer they stay on all day. The blue one on the top is really, really pretty on. This product is really a bang for your buck kind of deal!

2nd time bad news and a Rite Aid Haul

WTH!!

I wanted to try the Fing'rs nails again, and I did. I was disappointed yet again. The glue in the kit was dried out. It would not come out of the tube. No worries, I had the kit from before. It was also dried out. I have been so upset with the quality of these nails, I will not be buying them again. Maybe when I get over my disappointment, I will try another brand.

Now on to a tiny Rite Aid Haul, because I did go to Rite Aid to purchase the nails, and I got some goodies. I want to say that I didn't think the Prestige line of eyeshadow would be very good because it is so inexpensive. I was surprised at how pigmented it was.

Glisten, Ballet, and Verdigris

I wore the Ballet with some Carbon in the crease and waterproof eyeliner. It stayed on all day, and I got so many compliments on the look. I like that you get a good amount of product for a little money.

Another thing I picked up was this NYC Blushable Creme Stick in Pink Flash. It says that it is limited addition, so of course I had to have it.  It looks so scary when you first put it on.

After you rub it in, it gives the prettiest glow to your cheeks, topped with some highlighter it makes the perfect rosy cheek.

The last thing I got, I have used before. I have the Wet and Wild Gel Liner in Purple, but I had meant to get it in black. I picked up the black one, and I really like it. The picture shows me using it with two different brushes. The first I got from Sally's Beauty Supply and it is the top line on my wrist. It is really good for lining the water line, because you just touch it to it. The second, is actually the brush it comes with. If you look at the lines I drew in the picture, the brush it came with is really good for precise lines. The other brush is for a thicker line. Of course, it looks way more dramatic on my wrist then your eye. The picture of the actual eye was done with the brush it came with.

Rebel thought he would check it out, and when he smelled it he knocked it out of focus!

California Girls!

So I do not know what possessed me, but I stopped into Kerr Drug to check out their press on nails. I have saw them on  some of the girls at work, and I think they look really cute. I guess I was not paying close enough attention because the ones I got were hella long.  I put one on my thumb just to see if I liked it or not, and it was scary. I should have gotten the shorties, because I hated the way the long ones looked. I tried to file them down, but even filed down to the design they were still way too long; I am going to get some different ones and try them out, I think shorter will look way better. I was watching Eleventh Gorgeous on youtube earlier, because I love them, and they were showing the Fing'rs Nails and the ones they had looked good. They were the same design I had, but way shorter. I want to get some more, and I kind of want to get the ones with the black tips. I will let you know!

Just For Fun

What does your lipstick shape say about you? This website
http://www.martinarmand.com/Lipstick_Shapes.html
reveals just that.

My lipstick has a rounded smooth tip, and the website says that means I am.

Easy-going
Peacemaker
Even tempered
Steady
Likable
                  Generous

Try it out and see what your lipstick shape says about you!!

More Lippies??

I realize I am doing a lot of  lipstick posts here lately, but I really do have a love affair with lipstick. Enter, Rimmel Lasting Finish Intense Wear Lipstick in Airy Fairy! I have gone through three tubes of it. . It is kind of a nude, but it leans more towards pink. It is a really good put on and go color. For instance today it is jeans day at work, so I have on my Airy, a little foundation, blush, eyeliner, and mascara. That sounds like a lot, but it is minimal to what I wear on a daily basis. I highly recommend this color. I think that it will look good on all skin types.

To Line or Not to Line

Here is my lip combination for today. It consisted of a nude mouth made up of, Sephora Very Pink lip pencil, Revlon Nude Attitude Lipstick, and LO'real Lip Gloss in Sunset. The pink lip pencil is almost gone I have used it so much.

This got me thinking today, is this a necessity? Do I put on liner because I really need it, or out of habit? One advantages of a lip liner is that it helps lipstick stay on your lips longer, because it gives the lipstick something to hold onto. Another advantage of lip liner is that it keeps the lipstick from bleeding outside the lines of your lips. Is it something that is completely necessary to achieve the perfect looking pout? I like it a lot. i have been known to turn around and go back home if I have forgotten my lip liner, and have not done my lips yet. So I am going to say for me it is a necessity. I can not speak for everyone else, but I just feel like my look is signed, sealed and delivered when there is liner involved. Thoughts??

Liner

L'Oreal Linuer Intense

I love it. Like other liquid liners you really have to be careful applying it. Once you get the hang of it, it is super simple to use. Really, you can just lay it against your lash line and pull. If you want a thicker line it is easy to build up on without looking crazy.  The brush is a lot pointier then it looks in the picture. Wings are simple to do with this liner as well.

My favorite tip for winged eyeliner is to start with the bottom lash line at the outer corner and draw up...Then you can take the upper line and connect the two to make a wing that is guaranteed to look the same on both sides.

If you can tell in the picture, the dotted line goes up, and the heavier top line connects to it.

With the linuer intense I don't put a shadow over it to set it, but if I was going to use a different one, I would press some black eye shadow over the liner. It will stay all day, and gives it a more finished look.

Silver Mercedes

I was skeptical about the Pure Ice polish I bought at Walmart, but I really wanted a silver polish. I picked this up for less than two dollars. It is called Silver Mercedes, and it is super shiny. I like the shimmery finish, and it only takes two coats. If you see this in the store you will notice they have a billion colors. I will defiently be trying different colors to see if I like them just as much.

Another thing I wanted to talk about is the Nail Life Aromatheraphy Drop On Speed Dry. It is fantastic. You put it on and your nails dry so quickly, then you massage it into your cuticles, and it smells great!! Worth it I use it all the time, because I am too impatient to wait for my nails to dry.

The Creme De La Creme!!

Today I made paper flowers and butterflies for my bullentin board at work!!

I know it isn't relevant to makeup, but they are just so pretty I wanted to share them. Today I want to talk about the creme de la creme of nudes. It is another Mac lipstick that I love, Creme D' Nude. It is the perfect nude, and I think it goes well with a dark eye, or light spring colors. Right now the gloss I am using over it is Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss in Pink Afterglow. I am literally digging in the tube to get it out, I have used it so much. If you are like me then you are a weirdo and keep your Mac lipstick in the box. That is why in the picture my little pretty is sitting beside the box. I have actually used it a lot, I just keep it in my purse that way.

Comment if you are like me and keep you MAC in it's box, I may be on my own here

Smith's Rosebud Salve

Smith's Rosebud Salve

Something that I use everyday, which you will be able to see from the pictures, is Smith's Rosebud Salve. I used it a long time ago and loved it, but I never got around to repurchasing it. My sister happened to leave hers at my house, and I fell in love with it all over again. I use it on my lips before I line them, and it makes them smooth so I don't have that weird caked on look happening. I put it on before I go to bed as well, so I don't have to reach for my chap stick 20 times while I am trying to go to sleep. It can be used to treat lots of things according to the package; calming frizzy hair, soothing dry skin, to help concealer cover a blemish, to put on dry cuticles, and the list goes on. I only use it for my lips, but it is definitely a go to product for me!

Nars Lip Lacquer!

Nars Lip Lacquer

Today was a pretty day. I have been wearing my viva glam lady gaga lipstick pretty much everyday. Today, however was a lazy Sunday so I opted to go with a simple lip that I could just swipe on with my finger. Enter NARS Lip Lacquer in Sweet Charity. It is described as a pink mauve with a little sparkle. I think that it is so pretty on its own. It is a little bit sticky but not so bad that you feel like you have tree sap on your lips. I love it, it's great for a lazy day. Check it out!

And here are some pictures of it!!!

The dress that I am wearing to work tomorrow has just a little bit of purple in it. I went through all my purple polishes (which is a lot) and picked out the one in the photo. It is Rimmel 60 second Nail Polish in Climax. I like the color, you have to apply two to three coats for it to show up which I don't like. I find that it chips really easily. I don't know if it will last through tomorrow afternoon, but we shall see.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Cream Cleanser

Standing here at my second job in which I wait tables in an all black uniform I thought I would write about my face wash. I do not currently have a single table. I had been using an expensive three step face regimen that many people recommended. After I had used the product for four months, I saw no change in the condition of my skin. I blame my skin going crazy on the stress of starting a new job, trying to sort out getting a new house, and moving. I finally got fed up with the product and found myself out of town at a Walmart. I decided it was time to get a product that I would use twice a day and be done with it. I would of course always mosturize after. As I stood in the ailse I was overwhelmed. There are way too many brands to choose from. I picked up the new Loreal brand with the cute little scrublet, and carried it around for a while while I looked at the others.I decided against it because of the price and I wanted something I had heard of. Finally I decided to go simple and picked up Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Cream Cleanser. I love it, I have used it every day and night for a week. My complexion is clearer and is not dry at all. You really feel like you got your face clean after you use this product. It has a cool almost burning sensation to it. I will use it for another week and update you on my complexion! Have a good weekend!!

Red Lips

A quote in my Marie Claire magazine for the month of May struck me as true. It was on the top of the page of an interview with Gucci Westman, Revlon's artistic director. The quote says, "Trying on makeup is like lingerie shopping: You just feel different when you have a cute bra on or a pretty lipstick. It makes you more confident."

I like that. I love Marie Claire so much, I have a subscription to it. The article from that quote is talking about red lipstick. I have very fair skin so I am always hesitant to try red lipstick. Look how gorgeous Grace Kelly looks in red lipstick below. It makes me want to try it. I am definitely going to start with the Viva Glam Cyndi Lauper red!

TOKIDOKI!!!

I have created a beautyticket.com wishlist!! I am going to buy these, try them out, and then let you know what I think about them. There is so much to choose from, but I am limiting myself to three so I can really use them often. For those of you who don't know beautyticket.com is a place that sells highend makeup at discount prices. The three things I am getting:

Pop Beauty Eye Pencils in Lime and Aubegine ~ $3.99 each

(I realize that is two in one but I wanna give more then one color a chance.) :)

Lola Cosmetics Creme Blush Stick in "Monte Carlo ~ $8.99

Smashbox Tokidoki Lipgloss in "Docissma." ~ $12.99

The last product is the one I am most excited about. Look at how cute the packaging is. I hope the product is just as good.

Look for reviews about these in the near future!!
Colorstay: do or don't??

Okay so I wanted a violet lipstick, because I think anything leaning towards purple is pretty. I picked up this Revlon Colorstay Overtime Lipcolor in Lingering Violet at Target. I wore it for like 3 hours today, and went straight back to GAGA. It dried out my lips terribly and then when I went to put on the gloss it made my lips feel gritty. Is there a trick to prevent this?? Is it just me?? I think that anything that is colorstay at least in my experience is very drying. Anyone else have the same issue??

It doesn't look violet in the picture, it looks pink, but it is a pretty light purple.

In a side note my Crystal Ball Comment on my excite account says, "Find beauty in your trash." Think about that one.:)

"G"

Seriously guys I am going to start using my digital camera so that you can actually see the pictures, but anyway. Let me tell you about this little bundled up girl. She is Harajuku Lovers G by Gwen Stefani for Women and I love her. It smells sooo good. This one was given winter apparel for the winter months, the other bottle is dressed in summer apparel and is just as cute. Anyway there are many different kinds of Harajuku Lovers perfumes but G is the one that is consistently in my purse. The official Harajuku Lovers website describes it as a, "creamy musk," it lists the ingredients as, "top notes of coconut water and mandarin, mid notes of white peach and orange flower, and bottom notes of vanilla bean and creamy sandlewood," along with some other delicious ingredients. I feel pretty when I wear it, I will definitely be purchasing the summer bottle soon!!

Crushed Pearl

It stopped raining long enough for me and my dog to run!! I painted my nails when I got back with Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro in Crushed Pearl. I love the color. It's barely there so it's just enough color to add some sparkle and glam to your nails. It is not however long lasting. The bottle says 10 days, I have used it a few times and it the maximum amount of time it has lasted has been 2 days. I tried it with a base coat and a top coat and also with neither. I love the color, but it is only good for one work day then I have to take it off. Another thing I love about this polish is the brush. It's huge!!! I think I will definitely try different colors to see if they have better staying power. The brush is big enough to cover your whole nail so it makes painting a cinch!

The picture isn't the best lighting so it doesn't really do the color justice.

I have also been into glitter polish lately. I know it sounds really high school, but it actually looks good over white polish. I painted my toes with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On and then topped it off with LA COLORS Art Deco Nail Design Glitter Polish. I don't like taking pics of my toes, but try it. It looks great. I don't think I would paint my fingernails like that, but it looks fantastic with black shoes!

It is pouring the rain and I did not put anything in my hair to keep it from frizzing. I think that the second I step outside it is going to look like I got electrocuted..just randomness

GAGA GAGA GAGA

So, hello, I have all kinds of thoughts in my head about makeup. I like to give advice to my friends and to do makeovers. I'm writing it all down as a creative outlet for my true love, all things beauty!! Playing with all my makeup is the ultimate stress reliever. Right now I am in love with the Viva Glam Lady GAGA lipstick. It is beautiful, the perfect pink, the best consistency, I can not say enough good things about it. It can be very sheer, or it can be bright, it just depends on how much you layer it. I should have bought two, that is how much I love it. I have used it everyday since I got it with the exception of the day I had to wear nude just to change it up a bit. Let me know what you think, have you tried it, do you love it?? This is my first blog so I am talking to absolutely no one at the moment, but who knows people may want to follow me.
